Conversion Tables

Reference tables for length, weight, and temperature conversions. Each chart lists pre-computed values built from BIPM-defined factors, so you can look up a conversion without calculating.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are conversion tables?
Conversion tables provide pre-calculated values for common unit conversions. Instead of using a calculator, you can quickly look up the equivalent value in another unit.
  • Are your table values accurate?
Yes. Conversion factors come from official standards (BIPM, NIST) and are checked against published reference values. Each table shows the exact conversion formula used, so any row can be verified by hand.
  • When should I use a table vs a converter?
Use a converter for one-time calculations with any value. Use a table when you need to quickly look up common conversions or compare multiple values at once.

How these reference tables are built

Each table is generated from the same engines that drive the interactive tools, then frozen at build time. Rows are computed, not transcribed, so a table cannot drift from its calculator.

Use a table when a lookup beats an input box — a repeated value, a range to scan, a figure to copy.

Every page in this section carries:

  • a fixed step between rows, stated above the table
  • the same factors the interactive converter uses for the same pair
  • the rounding rule applied to each column
  • a link to the interactive tool when you need a value between rows

Picking the right table

For a value between two rows, use the converter linked from the table; interpolating by eye is fine for a rough read and wrong for anything you sign.

Each convention gets its own table rather than a shared one with footnotes, so a column heading names the exact unit.

Where these tools stop

  • Rows are rounded for reading. The underlying factor carries more digits than the table displays, so a value copied from a table and multiplied through can drift from one computed directly.
  • A table covers the range it states and no further. Extending it by pattern is safe for linear conversions and wrong for anything with an offset or an exponent.

The market in the URL controls the numbers: currency, measurement convention, and any regional rule that changes the calculation. The interface language is a separate browser setting that never changes a result — it translates the labels while the computation, its units and its sources stay as they are.

Checking our work

Where a page states a standard, constant or regulatory limit, it names the source so the figure can be traced back. The methodology page describes how tools are generated and validated, rounding policy documents how displayed values are rounded, and sources and standards lists the references behind the platform. If a figure looks wrong, the corrections policy explains how to report it and what happens next.
